Meeting point (11:30am): Turn LEFT off Hume Hwy (M31) at Penrose Forest Way (look out for the sign or you will miss the turn off). Meet at the public toilets just inside the turn off. This is the final public toilet stop before we enter the forest.
Dress warmly and wear gumboots or enclosed shoes. The forest can get quite cold and muddy.
We will cook creamy mushrooms to have on crusty bread in the forest.
The creamy mushroom sauce will contain dairy and the bread will contain gluten. Please bring your own fluten free bread if you require it. All food is halal friendly.
Karlie will supply all cooking ingredients and equipment.
There will also be an educational group component based on the Autumn theme of fungi.
WHAT TO BRING:
NB: This is a remote location. There are no water taps or toilets in the forest. Please be prepared to do bush wees/poos.
-Tissues & small plastic bag to take your waste/toilet tissues out of the forest and dispose of in a bin in the way home
-Enough drinking water/additional food/snacks that your family requires for the whole day
-BYO plates/bowls, cutlery, tissues for mushroom lunch
-Hand sanitiser
-Picnic blanket/mat/chairs
-A small knife to cut the mushrooms we find from the forest floor
-A flat cardboard box or basket in which to lay mushrooms flat to avoid damaging them
-Enough petrol in your tank so you don't risk running empty
I look forward to guiding you on this exciting Autumn adventure!
Stay wild, Karlie :)
